Blxculx I'll never forget picking up this 7" back in '93. Sitting in a smoky, poorly-lit room, enraptured by the sounds coming out of the hifi. This was, in my record collection then, surrounded by some real greats; UOA, Born Against, Angel Hair, Chino Horde. But THIS release was in a league of its own. I wish I still had my 7" collection... But I can't thank Numero enough for keeping these sounds available. That is SO important. Vital. Crucial. Favorite track: Numb.

O Nation, You Bleed From Many Wounds, 1896 is Mohinder’s November ’93 debut. A get-up-to-grab-a-drink-from- the-fridge-and-miss-it sonic attack. Grinding post-hardcore with metal-tinged riffs and throat scraping vocals, for the politically forward. Produced by Bart Thurber at his quirky House of Faith studio, the seven song set was paired to five for the screen printed 7” release on their own Unleaded Records. We’ve recreated the session as Dove Amber, Albert Menduno, James Fuhring, and Clay Parton originally conceived it, giving O Nation its first digital appearance.

1993. The kids were on a hunt for a new sound and got hooked on a strain of emotional hardcore percolating up from Goleta and San Diego. In Oakland it was Indian Summer. Olympia birthed Unwound. Cupertino had Mohinder.

A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
